ABOUT THE QUARTZSITE TIMES

The Quartzsite Times newspaper circulation covers the Quartzsite, Arizona area. It is published on Wednesdays with deadline for ad copy and editorial on Mondays at 10 a.m.

The readership of the Quartzsite Times is unique in that it changes drastically each year during the fall and winter months. Quartzsite is a small town of about 2,000 full-time residents that multiplies to tens of thousands in October with the migration of snowbirds, who stay throughout the winter, leaving for home states across the nation around April.

Quartzsite, in many ways, has retained the Old West. The City Council Chambers has a sign that reads, "No firearms allowed in meetings," and they mean it. Even in recent years, a disagreement between city officials was "discussed" with a firearm, much to the demise of the one who lost the discussion. Snowbirds, who care little for town politics, bring a variety of interesting stories to the press with their many activities, clubs and music events.

Quartzsite, Arizona

Quartzsite, Arizona, is a little town of about 2,000 permanent residents located in the crossroads of Interstate 10 between Phoenix to the east and Los Angeles to the west, and Highway 95 between Yuma to the south and Parker to the north.

In the fall and winter months, the population of 2,000 explodes to over a million visitors, with shows, swap meets and snowbirds returning for the spectacular winter weather so popular in the southwest.

There are a multitude of things to see and do in Quartzsite, Blythe, on the Colorado River and surrounding areas. The valley and mountains are filled with minerals, wildlife and beautiful desert landscapes.

Quartzsite becomes the home of the Main Event and hundreds of vendors during the Snowbird season. Dozens of events, activities and clubs come to life from October to April. Celia's Rainbow Gardens, also located in Quartzsite, is the largest "free admission" botanical gardens in the state of Arizona and is completely funded by donation and volunteer labor.
