About Williams-Grand Canyon News

The Williams-Grand Canyon News has a long history, dating back to 1889. In 1999, it celebrated its 110th anniversary by publishing an historic edition, which included photographs and stories of early Williams and the Grand Canyon.

WGCN is actually two newspapers put into one. The Williams section covers news about northern Arizona along with local Williams news, sports and events. This section also includes news from Parks and Ash Fork. The Grand Canyon section is an in-depth look into the area around the Canyon, including Tusayan, Valle and the National Park.

The newspaper is published every Wednesday and has a circulation of more than 4,500. Three times a year WGCN publishes two tourist guides — one for Williams and one for the Grand Canyon. For the third year in a row, WGCN has also published a fall sports guide, which includes sports news about Williams, Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona University.

The Arizona Newspaper Association gave WGCN a second place for special sections award for the historic edition, along with the fall 1999 sports tab and the spring 2000 Williams Tourist Guide. WGCN also received a third place showing for its editorial page excellence.
